Nucifera Cocos Nucifera (coconut palm) is a species of palm tree that is native to the tropical regions of the Old World and is one of the most important plants of the tropics. It is widely cultivated for its edible nut and for its oil, called copra or coconut oil. Coconut is a valuable source of food and nutrition, providing essential nutrients like manganese, iron, phosphorus, and zinc. Coconut oil is popularly used as a cooking ingredient, in skin and hair care products, and as a base in many health and beauty products. In addition, coconut oil has been known to have beneficial effects on cholesterol levels, diabetes, and weight management.
