Antibiotics

Antibiotics are medicines that fight bacterial infections. They work by killing or inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics are used to treat many common bacterial infections, such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, and some skin infections. They are also used to prevent bacterial infections before surgery and to prevent and treat complications of some medical conditions, such as cystic fibrosis. Antibiotics are one of the most significant discoveries of modern medicine and have saved countless lives through their ability to effectively treat bacterial infections.
