Transposon
A transposon is a snippet of genetic material that can move from one part of the genome to another. It plays an important role in genetic variability by altering the regions of DNA in the genome. Transposons are used in a wide range of genetic engineering applications, including gene therapy, gene cloning, and gene knockouts. In addition, transposons are being used as gene-targeting tools to identify and study the roles of various genes in disease pathogenesis. The ability to accurately target specific genes makes transposons a valuable tool for drug discovery and development.
