Transgenic Insects
Transgenic insects are those that have been modified through genetic engineering to exhibit certain desirable traits. Transgenic insects have been used to improve crop yields, to control the spread of diseases, and to reduce the use of pesticides. They are also being developed for medical applications, such as to deliver vaccines or act as bioremediation agents, and for research purposes, such as to understand basic biology or environmental responses. Transgenic insects are a powerful tool in agriculture, disease control, medicine, and research.
