Genetically Modified Organisms (gmos)

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms whose genetic material has been artificially altered in a laboratory. These alterations are usually made to improve the organism’s desired characteristics, such as increased resistance to pests or greater nutrient content. GMOs are widely used in agriculture and are key to the production of many foods and medicines. They have a potential to reduce the environmental impacts of farming, improve the nutritional value of foods, and increase the yield and productivity of crops. GMO technology is also important in medical and biotechnological applications, such as gene therapy and genetic engineering.
