Periodontitis

Periodontitis is an inflammatory oral condition that affects the gums, ligaments, and bones that support the teeth. It is a common cause for tooth loss in adults, and can have a significant negative impact on a person’s quality of life. The inflammation associated with periodontitis is caused by bacteria, and can be prevented and treated with regular brushing, flossing, and regular visits to a dentist for professional cleanings. Treatment for periodontitis can also involve the use of antibiotics in severe cases, and surgical treatment for advanced stages of the condition. Periodontitis is an important concern for oral health, and recognizing and treating it promptly is important for maintaining good oral health.
