Osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that affects children and young adults. It is the most common type of bone cancer and is most commonly found in the arms and legs, but can also appear in other bones. Osteosarcoma most often originates in the cells that make up the bone, called osteoblasts. Diagnosis and treatment of osteosarcoma includes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Early diagnosis is important for successful treatment of the condition. Osteosarcoma can be a life-threatening illness, but with the right treatment, many individuals with this condition can live long, productive and healthy lives.
