Lenticels
Lenticels are small openings or pores on the surface of plants. They are mainly located on the stems and roots of plants, but can also be found on the surface of leaves and fruits. These openings allow for gas exchange between the environment and the internal cells of the plant. The gases exchange is necessary for the plant's respiration and photosynthesis processes, which are responsible for the plant's growth and development. Lenticels allow the plant to take in oxygen from the air and release carbon dioxide and other gases, thus maintaining the plant's internal environment and keeping the plant healthy. Lenticels are also used to detect water and have a key role in water intake in plants. As a result, lenticels are critical for the survival, growth, and overall health of all plants.
