Eschar

Eschar is a scab-like or dry, crusty wound covering formed from a burn, cut, or other tissue damage. Its formation helps protect the underlying wound from infection, promotes healing, and aids in tissue repair. It is often made of dead or dying tissue and can be an effective barrier against infection, aiding the growth of healthy, new tissue. Eschar formation is an important part of wound healing and can also be used to aid in reconstruction procedures.
