Translational Thyroidology
Translational thyroidology is the study of the thyroid (a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the neck) in animals and humans. Its main focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid-related disorders, such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, nodules, and cancer. It also includes research into the possible causes, prevention, and management of thyroid diseases. Translational thyroidology is a multi-disciplinary field and involves collaboration between endocrinologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, surgeons, and other medical specialists. Its importance lies in the effective diagnosis and treatment of thyroid-related conditions, which can help to improve patient health outcomes. Furthermore, translational thyroidology is a growing field of research and has the potential to provide insight into the causes and management of other endocrine-related conditions.
