Thyroid Test
A thyroid test checks the level of hormones produced by the thyroid gland in the body. The results of this test can help diagnose medical conditions such as thyroid disease, an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), or cancer of the thyroid. Thyroid tests are important because they can help detect and diagnose conditions early, which can prevent serious health problems from developing. Thyroid tests can also help doctors monitor and adjust treatment for those with existing thyroid conditions, as well as determine if medications for thyroid treatment are having the desired effect.
