Thyroid Medications
Thyroid medications are medications designed to treat conditions involving the thyroid gland. The thyroid is a small gland located in the neck which produces hormones that control metabolism, growth, and activity levels. Thyroid medications work by regulating hormone levels and can be used to treat thyroid disorders including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and goiter. Thyroid medications may also be used to treat thyroid cancer. Treatment with thyroid medications can help to reduce or eliminate symptoms of thyroid disorders and can help to restore hormone levels to normal.
