Thyroid Function Tests
Thyroid Function Tests are laboratory tests which measure hormones produced by the thyroid gland, such as triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). These tests help diagnose and monitor many conditions related to an overactive or underactive thyroid gland. These tests are important for individuals experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain or loss, irregular heartbeat, or feeling extremely cold or hot. By testing for thyroid function, a doctor may detect a thyroid condition, monitor treatment and ensure that the thyroid hormone levels remain balanced.
