Iodine Supplements

Iodine is an essential trace element and an important component of numerous hormones. Its primary purpose is to support thyroid health, as it is required to produce thyroid hormones. Iodine supplements help to ensure adequate and balanced levels of iodine in the body, and are commonly used to prevent and treat iodine deficiency, which can have a range of health consequences. Deficiency can lead to goitre, an enlargement of the thyroid gland, hypothyroidism, impaired growth and development in children, and possibly even pregnancy-related issues. Iodine supplements may also be recommended for people who have difficulty obtaining adequate iodine from their diet. Furthermore, iodine supplements are sometimes used as an adjunct therapy for other conditions, such as fibrocystic breast disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and some autoimmune diseases.
