Hyperpituitarism

Hyperpituitarism is a medical condition caused by an overproduction of one or more of the hormones regulated by the pituitary gland. It is a rare disorder, but it can lead to an array of negative health effects, including rapid growth and development and excessive production of sex hormones. The most common treatments for this condition include hormone replacement therapies and surgery. Hyperpituitarism has been linked to several serious conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, and fertility issues. Early diagnosis and treatment is key to restoring the patient’s health and well-being.

Most nodules are cysts filled with fluid or with a stored form of thyroid hormone called colloid. Solid nodules have little fluid or colloid. These nodules are more likely to be cancerous than are fluid-filled nodules. Some types of solid nodules, such as hyperplastic nodules and adenomas, have too many cells, but the cells are not cancer cells.
