Vascular Spasm
Vascular spasm is a phenomenon that occurs in the blood vessels when they constrict and limit blood flow, usually as a result of increased tension in the surrounding smooth muscle tissue. This can have a significant effect on blood pressure, the delivery of oxygen and other materials to tissues and organs, and other vital physiological functions. Vascular spasm can be caused by a variety of different factors such as physical activity, emotional stress, medications, and changes in temperature. It can be a contributing factor in conditions such as migraine headaches, coronary artery disease, and Raynaud's phenomenon. Treatments for vascular spasm include lifestyle modifications and medications to relax the blood vessel walls and improve blood flow.
