Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) is a rare blood disorder characterized by the formation of small blood clots in blood vessels throughout the body. This can lead to a decrease in the number of platelets, which can result in bleeding problems. It is a potentially life-threatening condition which requires prompt diagnosis and treatment. Treatment typically involves the use of plasmapheresis, a procedure that replaces the patient’s blood plasma with healthy plasma from a donor. In some cases, drug therapy with medications such as corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and inhibitors may also be used. With prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment, the prognosis for TTP is generally good.
