Transcriptomics

Transcriptomics is the study of the expression (production) of RNA molecules in a cell or organism. It examines the complete set of transcripts (mRNA and non-coding RNA) to gain insight into how genes are regulated and how they function. Transcriptomics is a powerful approach that can be used to understand the complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors that lead to disease, as well as assist in the discovery and development of potential new treatments. It is used in a range of fields such as drug discovery and development, cancer research, and evolutionary biology. Transcriptomics is an essential tool to decode the molecular mechanisms of a range of biological processes and is rapidly becoming an integral part of precision medicine.
