Head Injury
Head injury is an injury to the head resulting from a physical force or an object impacting the head. It can cause physical, cognitive and emotional damage, depending on the severity of the injury. Head injuries can be classified as either closed (non-penetrating trauma) or penetrating (immediate or delayed). Mild head injuries may present as a simple bump or bruise to the head, while severe head injuries can involve fractures and intracranial hematomas. Treatment of head injuries depends on the severity of the injury and may include rest, medications, medications to reduce swelling, surgery, or rehabilitation. Head injury is a significant cause of disability and death worldwide; therefore it is important for individuals to be aware of the ways to reduce the risks of such an injury. Prevention strategies such as wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding dangerous activities, and being aware of environmental hazards can reduce the occurrence of head injuries.
