ACL Tears
An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is a type of injury to the knee that occurs when the ACL is overstretched or torn. ACL tears are one of the most common knee injuries among athletes, particularly those who participate in activities like soccer and basketball that involve pivoting and jumping. ACL tears can cause severe pain, swelling, and instability in the knee, which can lead to disability and limit physical activity. In severe cases, surgery is required to repair the torn ligament. After surgery, rehabilitation and physical therapy are necessary to restore strength and stability to the knee. ACL tears can lead to a long-term loss of mobility and physical activity if not managed properly, making early diagnosis and treatment essential for a full recovery.
