Yellow Fever

Yellow fever is an acute viral infection caused by the flavivirus family of the same name. It is primarily spread through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito and can result in serious symptoms such as high fever, jaundice, and in severe cases, liver failure and death. Yellow fever is endemic in parts of Africa, Central and South America, and is considered a major public health concern by the World Health Organization. Despite the availability of an effective vaccine, it continues to kill over 30,000 people each year. Vaccination is seen as the best form of prevention against Yellow Fever and is recommended for people travelling to endemic regions.
