Portal Veins

Portal veins are the veins in the human body that act as the pathway for blood to travel from the intestine to the liver. This blood pathway is essential for the liver's metabolic functions, such as digestion, metabolism and detoxification. By carrying oxygen-rich blood from the intestine to the liver, portal veins help maintain overall health, regulate cholesterol levels, and keep the body free from toxins. Additionally, portal veins play a role in helping store important vitamins and minerals that are necessary for good health.
