Verticillium
wilt Verticillium wilt is a fungal disease that affects over 200 species of plants. It is caused by two species of Verticillium fungi, V. albo-atrum and V. dahliae, which live in the soil and attack plants through their roots. Symptoms include wilting, discolored foliage and stunted growth. Severe infections can lead to plant death. As Verticillium thrives in warm, moist soil, it is most commonly found in temperate climates. Management of this disease includes using disease-resistant varieties, avoiding infected plants and soil, rotating crops regularly and using fungicides when necessary. Verticillium wilt can cause significant crop losses, so it is essential to take the necessary steps to control it.
