Proprioception
Proprioception is a sense of one's own body. It allows for the coordination and control of movement and is a critical component of motor control and balance. Proprioception is important for activities such as walking, running, and climbing stairs. Its role in motor control is such that if proprioception is impaired, movement can become inefficient and even dangerous. Proprioception can also be used in rehabilitation and physical therapy to address muscle imbalances that can lead to injury. As a result, proprioception can be an important tool for athletes, people with physical disabilities, and individuals recovering from injury.
