Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's Disease is a disorder of the nervous system that affects movement. It usually develops gradually in people over the age of 60, with the most common symptoms being tremors, rigidity, slow movement, and difficulty in walking and speaking. Treatment can vary based on the individual but may include medications, lifestyle changes, physical and occupational therapy, and surgical treatment. With appropriate treatment and support, people with Parkinson's can continue to lead active and productive lives. Research is ongoing to determine new treatments and identify the cause of the disease.
