Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is a serious infection of the bones caused by bacteria. It is most commonly seen in young children, but can occur at any age. Symptoms of the infection include pain, swelling, and redness around the affected area. If left untreated, it can cause long-term damage to the bones and joints, leading to deformity, disability, or even death. Treatment usually involves antibiotics and surgery to remove any dead or infected bone tissue. Osteomyelitis is a life-threatening condition and early diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent further damage.
