Laminectomy

A laminectomy is a surgical procedure to treat certain spinal conditions by removing a portion of the lamina, the back part of the vertebra that covers the spinal canal. By removing the lamina, pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots can be alleviated, allowing for pain relief and improved mobility. It is commonly used to treat back pain, spinal stenosis, compression fractures, and spinal tumors. Additionally, laminectomy has been used in combination with spinal fusion surgery to treat scoliosis. The laminectomy procedure is generally successful and has been used to treat millions of patients worldwide.
