Hemangioblastoma
Hemangioblastoma is a rare, benign tumor of the central nervous system, typically located in the cerebellum, brain stem, or spinal cord. It is made up of abnormal blood vessels and can cause a variety of neurological symptoms such as headache, nausea, and changes in neurologic function. Treatment generally involves selective surgical removal of the tumor followed by radiation, although in some cases chemotherapy may be used. As benign tumors, hemangioblastomas usually do not spread and usually do not recur after removal. Due to this, hemangioblastomas can be effectively treated, and patients can return to their daily lives with few complications.
