Glioblastoma Multiforme

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor in adults and one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer. It is characterized by uncontrollable growth and rapid spread into nearby tissue. GBM is typically treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy; however, it is frequently incurable. The average survival rate following diagnosis is 12-15 months, but some patients do survive much longer. Research is ongoing to develop new treatments and understand the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to GBM.
