Denervation

Supersensitivity Denervation supersensitivity is a phenomenon whereby the nerves and/or muscles of a person become abnormally sensitive to stimuli after the nerve supplying them has been injured. It is important to understand as its symptoms are used to help diagnose various neurological problems. Denervation supersensitivity is also a useful tool for many medical treatments such as nerve stimulation therapies and electrical stimulation treatments. It is also used to understand the effects of different drugs on nerve and muscle activities. Finally, denervation supersensitivity is an important tool in the study of the physical and chemical properties of nerve cells which can be useful in developing new treatments for neurological disorders.
