Autism

Spectrum Disorder Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulty with social and communication skills, language processing, and restricted and repetitive behaviors. ASD is diagnosed by observing a person’s behavior, and is found in all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. ASD affects different individuals differently and can range from mild to severe. Typical symptoms and behaviors include difficulty with social interaction and communication, repetitive behaviors, and sensory sensitivities. Early diagnosis and intervention can help to improve a person’s development and increase their potential for learning, social growth, and independence. With a better understanding of ASD come better treatments and management strategies, enabling individuals with ASD to live meaningful and productive lives.
