Vigilance

Vigilance is any behaviour characterized by the sustained concentration of attention and awareness, aimed at detecting the potential presence of danger or present of a change from the regular and expected. It is generally associated with alertness, watchfulness, and awareness. It is an important cognitive process that helps to protect us from potential threats and inform us of our environment. Vigilance has wide-ranging applications and is used in many different contexts, such as in the military to detect threats, in the healthcare field to prevent medical errors, and in the workplace to spot safety hazards.
