Somnambulism
Somnambulism, also known as sleepwalking, is a sleep disorder in which a person is partly or fully awake but still performing certain activities such as walking, talking, or eating. It is estimated that about 15% of children experience sleepwalking at least once, and most outgrow the disorder during adolescence. Somnambulism has been linked to stress, lack of sleep, and certain medications and it can pose a risk of injury. Treatments for somnambulism include lifestyle changes such as reducing stress and ensuring a consistent sleep schedule, as well as therapy and medications. For those experiencing sleepwalking, it is important to ensure safety by removing any potential risks and improving sleep hygiene.
