Sleeping Sickness

Sleeping sickness is a serious parasitic disease caused by Trypanosoma protozoa. It is mainly found in sub-Saharan African countries and affects both humans and animals. The disease can be fatal if not treated correctly. Symptoms include fever, severe headaches, enlarged lymph nodes, and confusion. It can also eventually lead to disturbed sleep, coma, and death. Early diagnosis and treatment are important in order to prevent fatal complications. Treatment includes antibiotic drugs and drugs that target the parasites. Prevention measures include protecting against the bite of infected tsetse flies, using insect repellents, and avoiding contact with animals that may be infected. Being aware of the risk and taking preventive measures is essential for preventing the spread of sleeping sickness.
