Sleep Terror Disorder
Sleep terror disorder is a sleep disorder characterized by an episode of intense fear and panic occurring during sleep. It is also known as night terrors. Symptoms of a sleep terror episode may include screaming, thrashing, excessive sweating, and confusion after awakening. Sleep terror disorder can have a significant negative impact on quality of life, as it can cause feelings of fear and embarrassment, and can lead to difficulty sleeping and daytime symptoms of anxiety. Treatment typically includes psychological counseling and medications that help to relax the body and mind. For long-term management, stress management techniques and good sleep hygiene are also important.
