Periodic Limb Movement Disorder
Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, involuntary and often rhythmic movements of the limbs that occur during sleep. People with PLMD may experience sensations of jerking, twitching or kicking of the legs and arms associated with the movements. This can significantly disturb sleep and lead to daytime sleepiness, fatigue, and impaired concentration. Treatment may involve lifestyle changes, medications, and/or other therapies.
