Overview
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious sleep disorder characterized by repeated episodes of temporary breathing pauses during sleep. These pauses can last from seconds to minutes and occur as often as 30 to 300 times per night, significantly reducing the quality of sleep and leading to daytime fatigue, mood swings, and more serious health problems such as high blood pressure, stroke, and even heart attack. Treatment of OSA usually includes lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and using specialized devices to assist in breathing while sleeping.
