Nocturia
Nocturia is a condition that involves a person waking up multiple times during the night to urinate. It is caused by an imbalance of hormones, increased fluid intake in the evening, a reduced bladder capacity, and certain medications and medical conditions. Nocturia can lead to daytime fatigue, reduced quality of life, and poor concentration. Treatments range from lifestyle changes, such as decreasing fluid intake in the evening and exercising regularly, to medications and retaining fluid in the bladder with a balloon catheter. Nocturia is a common sleep disorder, and its prevalence increases with age. It is important to seek medical attention if nocturia is disrupting your sleep.
