Jet Lag
Jet Lag is a temporary sleep disorder that causes fatigue, disorientation, and irritability due to disruptions in the body’s circadian cycle caused by rapidly crossing time zones. When travelling across multiple time zones, the body is unable to reset its internal clock fast enough to adjust to the new environment, resulting in a misalignment of the body’s natural rhythms with the local environment. Jet Lag is especially common amongst frequent flyers and can have significant impacts on physical and mental health. Jet Lag can be managed by taking short naps when needed, avoiding stimulants, and resetting your body clock before the trip with incremental time changes. Additionally, light therapy can be used to reset the body’s internal clock by exposing the body to light at certain times of the day to simulate the natural day and night pattern that it is used to.
