Skin Cancer Prevention
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and is caused mainly by overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. To reduce the risk for skin cancer, individuals should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher, seek shade, and cover exposed skin with clothing and a wide-brimmed hat. Additionally, regular skin checks by a doctor can help detect and treat skin cancers in their early stages, when they are most curable. Taking these steps can be instrumental in reducing the risk and burden of skin cancer.
