Photosensitivity
Photosensitivity is a condition in which the skin or eyes become abnormally sensitive to light, resulting in a sunburn-like reaction or other symptoms. It is important to recognize, as it can act as an indicator of a person’s overall health. Photosensitivity may also be associated with certain medical conditions, such as lupus and other autoimmune diseases, as well as allergies, HIV/AIDS, and skin disorders. Treatment options include minimizing sun exposure, using protective clothing, and topical medications. Photosensitivity can also be reduced through lifestyle changes, such as avoiding irritants, eating a healthy diet, and staying hydrated. Recognizing and managing photosensitivity is important for living with and managing medical conditions and can help improve overall well-being.
