Cutaneous Melanoma
Cutaneous melanoma is a type of skin cancer that arises from melanocytes, the cells that give pigment to the skin. It is a relatively rare but highly aggressive form of cancer, and if left untreated, can spread to other parts of the body. Early detection is key to successfully treating cutaneous melanoma, and medical professionals rely on physical examinations, biopsies, imaging and other tests to diagnose the condition. Treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or targeted therapy. Patients should work closely with their healthcare team to determine the best course of action for their individual situation.
