Proctitis

Proctitis is an inflammation of the lining of the rectum and anus, which often causes rectal pain, itching, and bleeding. It is caused by infection, irritants, or allergies and can be both acute and chronic. It is the most common inflammatory disorder of the rectum and can be a sign of other diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. Treatment includes topical medications or enemas, antibiotics, and dietary modifications. Surgery may be necessary in severe cases. Proctitis is an important condition to be aware of as it can often be prevented or treated with the proper care.
