Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is a bone infection, usually caused by bacteria, that can be painful and damaging if not treated. It can affect any bone in the body and is more common in children than adults. The treatment typically involves antibiotics, surgery, and/or drainage of the affected area. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent long-term complications and help preserve the integrity of the affected bone. Osteomyelitis can create major health challenges and, if left untreated, can lead to permanent disability or death. Therefore, prompt diagnosis and treatment of osteomyelitis is critical, and seeking medical attention at the first sign of symptoms is recommended.
