Ossification

Ossification is the process of bone formation in the body. It involves the hardening of soft connective tissues in the body, transforming them into bone. This process is essential for correct skeletal development and provides the body with structural support and protection. Ossification also allows for movement and flexibility, due to the production of joints and ligaments. In adults, ossification is necessary for repairing and maintaining damaged bones. Without ossification, the body would be unable to heal properly and would be left susceptible to fractures.
