Myoclonus
Myoclonus is a type of movement disorder characterized by sudden, jerky, and involuntary muscle contractions. It can affect any part of the body, including the hands, arms, face, and legs. Myoclonus can be caused by a variety of underlying medical conditions, including brain or nerve damage, metabolic disorders, and drug reactions. It can also occur in otherwise healthy individuals due to certain triggers, such as stress, sleep deprivation, or fatigue. Treatment for myoclonus may involve medications, physical therapy, or nerve stimulation. In some cases, myoclonus can be disabling, interfering with activities of daily living, but with proper management, people can often lead relatively normal lives.
