The myocardium is the muscle tissue of the heart, which is responsible for the heartbeat. It is composed of cardiac muscle cells that contract and relax in order to pump blood around the body. Health problems of the myocardium can cause heart failure, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. Proper functioning of the myocardium is essential for a healthy cardiovascular system, as it ensures efficient and smooth circulation of oxygenated blood throughout the body.
