Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to diagnose and treat joint problems, especially in the shoulder, knee, ankle and elbow joints. Utilizing an arthroscope, a small incision is made in the skin and the instrument is inserted directly into the joint. Images of the joint can then be examined and, if necessary, corrective measures can also be taken. The arthroscope allows the doctor to view, diagnose, and treat the joint without having to open the area up surgically. The use of arthroscopy is beneficial for both the patient and the doctor as it provides a fast, minimally invasive solution to joint health problems and the risk of infection is much lower than with traditional surgical procedures.
