Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a progressive, inflammatory, autoimmune form of arthritis that affects the spine and other parts of the body. It is characterized by pain, stiffness, swelling, and damage of the joints. If left untreated, AS can lead to disability, as it affects the ability of the spine to function correctly. Early diagnosis and treatment of AS can help to reduce the impact of the condition, although there is no cure. Treatment options include medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. AS is an important health concern as it can compromise mobility and quality of life, particularly for those with more severe forms.
