Ankle Fracture

An ankle fracture is a type of broken bone which occurs at the ankle joint. It is usually caused by trauma such as a fall or a blow to the ankle, and it can also occur due to twisting or overuse. Symptoms of an ankle fracture can include pain, swelling, bruising, limited range of motion, and an inability to bear weight. Treatment for an ankle fracture often involves immobilization of the joint for several weeks, use of crutches, and physical therapy. Severe or complicated fractures may require surgery. An ankle fracture can lead to long-term issues such as chronic ankle pain, joint instability, and arthritis if not properly treated. It is important to receive prompt treatment for an ankle fracture to reduce the chances of complications or future disability.
